Hi All

I own a small engineering company that has done “some” staffing on the side in addition to our core business.  I have decided to expand the staffing division and would like to use a commission based compensation model.  I have done some googling on the topic and found many different concepts.  I plan on having a sales person on the phones all day trying to get new reqs and a recruiter trying to fill said reqs.  I like to think of myself as an employee first owner and would like my folks to be happy and stick with me for the long haul.  I guess that means I am willing to pay a little bit more for loyalty.  Both the salesperson and the recruiter will have a base pay of $20 per hour.  I pay medical, vacation, holidays and also pay for all of the tools.  We will be doing both permanent placement and hourly placements.

What models have you enjoyed the most?

What is your sales commission?

What is your recruiting commission?

When do the commissions kick in and when does it stop?

Please help a newbie out?!?!?

Best Regards

Chris, I work as recruiter for staffing firm. They pay me $14/hr + .50/hr /per person placed as commission.  My friend company $20 +$1/h.

Not being in the staffing/contract a start-up business it would need a "bill rate" that would need to cover salaries and benefits prior to locking in commission rates.

Thank you very much.

What % of gross margin should the salesperson receive and what % should the recruiter receive?
