Should I conclude that the underwhelming response to my query about whether this last year was the best year on record for the Executive Search business (I received 0 responses), might be due to the fact that for most of the audience (at least those who might have read my discussion question), that it was in fact, NOT the best year for many people?

I have seen a lot of other recruiters struggle this year. So, that's why I asked. I really would like to gain more accurate data and data more reflective of the true situation than that posted by the Fordyce Letter's editor, who seems to be mostly the "Tokyo Rose" of the recruiting industry, hell-bent on demoralizing good recruiters, and completely unrepentant when confronted with his lies.

I'm just saying, that's the way it looks from over here.
How Was Your 2014 Year of Recruiting?tag:recruitingblogs.com,2014-12-30:502551:Topic:18542812014-12-30T06:58:56.284ZNicholas Meylerhttps://recruitingblogs.com/profile/NicholasMeyler

I had projected that this would be a "banner year", and it appears that my prognostications at least held true for me and for the Retained Search sector.

For me, it wasn't my best year...

It was quite close, though. It was my second-best year out of nearly twenty-six years in the industry. Still, it did bring some new records and was a good year for me. I have actually seen other recruiters having a tough year, which I was fortunately spared.

Is the industry as robust overall as Korn-Ferry, Heidrick and Struggles, and other top-tier search firms seem to be demonstrating?

How are other recruiters evaluating this past year in comparison to previous years? What are your expectations for the future?
The Best Place to Get a Jobtag:recruitingblogs.com,2014-09-11:502551:Topic:18254102014-09-11T17:36:24.333ZMicheal Obinemehttps://recruitingblogs.com/profile/MichealObineme

By contrast, the average wage hike across the economy was about 2 percent, which was just enough to keep up with inflation.

Oil and gas industry experts say not only are there plenty of newly created jobs but also thousands of positions will be vacated soon by retiring workers. The American Petroleum Institute warns of a “great crew change,” opening thousands of jobs to workers with the right skills.

During the past decade, the United States has made tremendous strides in producing more domestic energy. Advances in technology, including hydraulic fracturing and directional drilling, have enabled the development of America’s shale formations, greatly increasing the nation’s energy bounty.
The results have been nothing short of spectacular. The United States is now the world’s largest natural gas producer, and by next year the United States is expected to exceed the nation’s oil production record set in 1972.

Furthermore, much of the new energy development has occurred on private land as landowners have signed contracts allowing drilling companies to spud wells on their property. A survey conducted among royalty owners—landowners who have leased their property for energy development—indicates they have been pleased with the outcome. More than 90 percent who responded to the survey say they would lease their land again, if given the opportunity.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports that more than 162,000 new U.S. jobs were created from 2007 through 2012. IHS Global Insight says another 1.3 million jobs are expected to be created by 2030.

Jobs in the upstream portion of the oil and gas industry pay more than twice the average national wage, and opportunities abound for college students who are considering declaring a major in engineering. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that petroleum engineers receive a median annual salary of more than $132,000, which is more than many top executives earn and far higher than the U.S. median household income of $51,017 reported in 2012.

Most college students, however, tend to select majors for which they are ill-suited or ill-equipped. According to a study by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce, engineering is not on the list of the top ten majors, yet it pays significantly more. Perhaps that explains at least part of the reason why so many college graduates find themselves living at home, working at minimum-wage jobs, and burdened with college-loan debt.

The oil and gas industry has been the best-performing business sector in recent years, certainly since the beginning of the Great Recession. And it could offer even more opportunities if the Administration would adopt the right policies, such as opening more federally owned land to exploration. There’s a lot to like about the oil and gas industry, particularly now when the world is becoming an increasingly hostile place.

For workers who want to do something meaningful, the oil and gas industry is on the high side. For more information visit: http://www.oilandgasrepublic.com
<ins id="aswift_3_expand" style="display: inline-table; border: none; height: 280px; margin: 0; padding: 0; xg-p: relative; visibility: visible; width: 336px; background-color: transparent;"><ins id="aswift_3_anchor" style="display: block; border: none; height: 280px; margin: 0; padding: 0; xg-p: relative; visibility: visible; width: 336px; background-color: transparent;"></ins></ins>

In the article it states that the ratio for success is 1/5 Promotion and the rest helpful and useful content. I try not to "SPAM" out Job posting after Job posting but when I have a really "Hot" Job I may post it 2 times in one day. Is this annoying? I do not want my connections to get annoyed and remove my content altogether.

I am also interested in hearing how many of you have "premium" accounts and pay for the service monthly. I haven't upgraded my account and I am not to sure how I feel about paying for the service as I get the majority of my candidates from other sources. Would it increase my chances to find that "Purple Tailed Rainbow Maned Unicorn"?

One last thing, how do you all feel about the ability to see who has been looking at your profile? I have this one person who views my profile every other day in the middle of the night like 2:30am........I feel like I want to call this person and ask if there is something I can help them with.
