What would you be willing to give up to have more time? To be more productive? These are interesting questions Dorie Clark asked in her post on HBR.org - Five Things You Should Stop Doing in 2012. Time has always been a huge commodity for recruiters. There are days when it feels like you don’t have enough hours in the day to get everything done. This is why planning and managing your time properly goes a long way to running a successful desk. There are times, however, when we’re thrown into reactionary mode when a candidate presents a new obstacle, a client makes a new request or a colleague turns to you for help. Although these types of distractions may not derail your entire day, they cost time and energy that is supposed to be dedicated to your working plan. Yesterday we asked what changes you plan to bring to your desk in the new year and today we are asking the opposite question.

I will stop trying to do it all...personally and professionally.

So many things--opportunities, requests and emergencies...all are deserving enough of attention which is always easy to attempt to do until you find you're burning the candle at both ends.

Admittedly this will be an attempt to stop an old and entrenched habit.
