<p>When I know I've given it 100% effort and the client either hasn't chosen a candidate, won't return calls or the 'perfect' candidate hasn't been uncovered. At that time, I'll have a frank conversation with the client and let them know exactly what is going on, and the potential repercussions of his/her actions.</p>
<p>If I can't be honest with a client about what is going on in the search, I'm not sure how honest I can be with the candidate! </p>

I have been setting up all new clients with some sort of retainer, and was surprised at the fact that it did not deter many people from choosing to use our services. The ones who decide not to seemed to be the ones that were probably least likely to yield a positive result - for the type of reasons above. I also have told a few prospective clients that we were not interested in working on their jobs, again due to the types of reason everyone…</p>
