Thought to open a discussion on an uncomfortable recruiting moments.

Back in 2006 I was engaged on a large recruitment project that encompassed 150 req's with 6 month time-to-fill. CRM Sales, Development, Marketing and IT roles. These types of roles need heavy phone sourcing time. I built my pipeline of names and resumes I collated from our Online resume extractor and began calling. Found a great candidate - his resume read like the job description word for word. I said wow... this is the guy - Perfect fit! (Online resume about 4 months old)

The call goes as follows:

Riiiiing Riing
Answered : "Hello?"
Me: "Hi may I speak with Joe (Blank)?"

Answered: "what is this regarding to?"

Me "I came across Joe's resume and wanted to speak to him about a wonderful opportunity"

Answered: "I did not know Joe posted his resume online soooo strange"

Me: "Well he did... seems that Joe might be a perfect fit for this opportunity. Is Joe available to speak?"

Answered: "I'm afraid he is not available... you see... Joe suffered a massive heart attack while using the toilet" - " Sorry dear"

Me: "oh I'm so sorry for your loss Ma'am... when did Joe pass away?

Answered: 3.5 months ago... but I would like to know who posted his resume?

Please feel free and share your uncomfortable recruiting moment
