I'm not an independent recruiter. I recruit for the DoD. The type of recruitment I do is very different that was happens in the private sector. I do less sourcing and convincing folks to take the job. They already know they want to work as a Fed. I'm not saying it is any better, I'm just stating that it's very different.
I'm also starting my own gig as a Career Coach/Consultant. For the time being, I offer employability services such as KSA development for Fed Service careers, resume & cover letter editing and writing, etc... Eventually, I will offer career/ life training sessions for corporations and on an independent level. If you know anyone who may benefit from my services, please send them my way.

Thanks for the comment. To answer, I own my own firm (Achieve Employment Solutions) and have a team of 3 who have been with me from conception. An ideal situation. I worked in a larger firm for years and had a very happy experience there, but there is just something wonderful about making success happen from the ground up with your own hard work, and seeing your own ideas actually WORK in the marketplace.
