    Hi Recruiting Animal:
Francois Saugin was an early French settler (late 1700's) in this area. I guess he set up a small mill on the falls here and people called it "Saugin Falls" which morphed into "Chagrin Falls"

Hi Recruiting Animal - I sent you a message. I really don't know who you are and we were never introduced per se.. and yet you were in my "friends" list.. so I had to take it down for now. I hope we will have a better "introduction" next time . Sorry whoever you are!~ Have a nice day!

    Hi Recruiting Animal!

I think we need better understanding of each other.. I have nothing but the very good intentions.. and I believe it was you who started off with all this. Sorry to say!~ But, thanks for the follow all around..here as well as Twitter. I look forward to a more "positive" interactions with you here online near future and be a good resource! and yes.. I will look into the chat format near future. Have a nice day.. and don't take me too personally either... as I am definitely learning about all different personalities here.. and I can also be a pain in the neck at times.. who doesn't have those days? All the best, Susan

Hey! Was talking with Jason this am about your show - and now I don't see the blue box on the main page??? He mentioned a great show u did on Gen Y - where's the link though?? Maybe I got the info wrong?? Are your shows always on Wed at noon EDT? Would like to listen live but timing isn't good. Cheers!
  • Susan Burns

Listened to your generations recording yesterday and was cracking up. I actually read Gordinier's book and heard him speak at Powell's (local Portland bookstore). Your def on to something! The book was a fun read and I did find the obsessiveness with "proving the contribution" amusing. Re hair - long?? Not since high school - did we know each other in a former life ;-)
  • Susan Burns

Thanks for the links - listened to both and here's what's clear to me - every generation thinks their special and entitled and will change the world. And, every generation that came before them gets annoyed by that thinking! The true difference is that each generation is "shaped" by the landscape they come of age in. So for gen Y its been a global, digital landscape and their parents in many cases have "padded" them so they won't get bruised along the way. This generation has also not seen positive changes from the business world. This certainly shows up in the workplace. But, if companies spent less time fighting it and more time understanding and learning from each generation we would be far better off.

I also have to clarify that I think labeling generations only serves a partial purpose and that in many cases each of us has similar outlooks towards life. The difference is that when your coming of age and a bit irreverent you speak about it more loudly!

The following slide is from a preso I gave to a group of college recruiters recently to help them see this dynamic. Interesting, this groups was also voicing frustration with an increase in the number of offers accepted and then reneged. This too was tied to entitlement and a lack of respect. But, more students have seen companies renege on offers so they have learned that this is how business works - go figure!

Great conversation and hope to see it continue!

oh, btw - I'm going to have to call you Aunt Recruiting Animal because the only one that calls me Susie is my Aunt Mimi ;-). As for the hair - yes that was a trend from about 10 years ago and its staying longer for now so glad u approve!

Can I borrow some of your energy in the middle of the day? How many red bulls do you drink prior to your show? Your audio programs are fantastic!
    Ciao for now.

Hey Anti - Recruiting Animal! Wednesdays become more flexible in Aug so I'll tune in live then. Re being on the show - thinking about it - but 9am PT is really early for a shot of tequila, which I'm feeling I may need to swing with it on your show ;-)
  • Amber Powell

    Hey Animal,

Sill listening to your shows and still loving them. So glad you are real. When I listen, I am all smiles because it would be great if everyone weren't so politically correct in how they communicate. Good times, Animal...good times!
  • Scott Love

Yo, Animal. Took me a while to get back, swamped and on the road. Yes, love to be interviewed. But compared to you, people will think I'm asleep. How do you get so much energy? I love it!

So do you have a name? and a face? Or are you like a superhero recruiter?

Regarding an interview, my expertise is to get recruiters to improve their performance (my target niche is third party executive search firms and direct hire staffing agencies, although I've consulted to in-house recruiting depts of Fortun 500 co's); I show them how to think at a higher level, how have a better strategy to complete search assignments, how to develop better work habits, and how to improve their tactics of closing the deal.
    See ya!

Okay you got me; “you filthy animal!” {Home Alone} The only “change” I see here is that I am new to this gig but have been on LI since 05. I offered since it is the right thing to do. If I can assist without going out of my way too much I will. Paying it forward is not just the new novel idea; it's my way of upbringing and approach to recruitment. Count me in for the volunteer, ping me at DCTechrecruiter@yahoo.com for the details.

Why do I admire my dad? Well I'll tell ya. He showed me what life is all about. Family. Responsibility. Getting up every day and making the most of it. The older I got - the more I realized just what a role model he was and still is for me.

Animal, just sent off a request to connect with you and I'm a little nervous;) Listening to volumes of your show I've got to say there is an intimidation factor. Hope to connect and will continue to listen regardless, great work!

Wasn't meant to be negative, more admiration.

Very well, I'll let you know when you suck.

    Agreed.
  • Susan Kang Nam

Ok. Recruiting animal.. Had a moment to reply back.. now.. it' upto you.. and I am in this because I "care".. or should I? I am ready to hear what "else" you want to say (esp. for your recruiting insight).. and I am a fair game.

So "not" sensitive Susan.. but truly opinionated. yes.

p.s. btw - you say you never get mad? Interesting what is your secret?.. I get mad all the time. lol.
  • Susan Kang Nam

I saved the "best" for last.. to your comment. I was just teasing you.. of course I can't get mad at Ami.. .. Also, if I want to wrestle with any.. I will put a post on rant page..for sure.. or reply back to a rant..which I have done ;) good to see you on twitter again.. I think I "did" miss reading your tweets. Why? Well, that's another story. Hope this helped ~~ All the best, Susan p.s. I do like Sesame Street.. and RBC = Sesame Street.. you bet! I agree.

didn't say I don't get mad. I don't get mad in The Recruitosphere because it's a fun place. Just like Sesame Street with all those puppets. Are you going to get mad at Ami or Grover? Of course not. You can wrestle with them but that's a different story.
  • Susan Kang Nam

I appreciate your comment and responses as well RA. Wish you all the best ~~ (not my usual sarcasm btw).

    Take care,

    Susan

Hey Mikey! Thanks for sharing info on Gretchen and MSFT blogging. I was mostly aware of Heather's work so good to get a bigger picture of what they were doing. A lot of great community outreach has come out of MSFT - blogs, the Spoke and hey genius. I do believe you are right on with MSFT having the longest company blog record. Continued emergence of web 2.0 could bring in more players but without dedicated resources - and that could look different for each company, its simply not sustainable.

Fun meeting you at Recruitfest - although too brief w/ no time to chat. Appreciate you joining my session!
  • Alex

Hey Mikey ! I still have to listen to a full interview.. it really was great meeting everyone and getting to know them better. So any leads for me yet ? LOL

    :)

  • Susan Kang Nam

  • Susan Kang Nam

  • Susan Kang Nam

so many .. hmm. what to choose ~ my answer is obvious - will look into both..and also thx for the note on facebook - will need to talk at some point (but then again, last time we tried that over blitztime - hmm. you were not as talkative - just kidding (hope you know that) - ;) best wishes! Susan ~
  • Susan Kang Nam

  • Susan Kang Nam

well.. thx for elaborating .. and that makes sense.. I recall you are not good with compliments anyway.. so I will not waste my time LOL - anyway.. vegetarian? I hear you. I wish I can stay away from red meat.. but I was brought up with lots of protein.. and I can't give that up just yet. As for the lazy man comment.. I have no comment back. You seem to have lots of time on your hands.. to even "be" lazy? feel free to discuss your lazy habits.. but that's completely upto you. I'll stop here. Have a good Sunday.
  • Chad Sowash
