By the way Peter, I don't think it would end in a stalemate.
I hesitate to wink 'cause Sarah Palin's ruined that emotive for many of us.
Oh, hell, here goes anyway.
Oh, and one more thing. Don't EVER tell me you have your period. I don't care.…
e male with no female managers you have a problem for a lot of reasons. In this type of environment the women do and will go into specifics and raise bloody hell when there is not a female manager they can speak with as well as screaming discrimination because they have no female supervisors. Third shift in a big distribution center is sometimes interesting. I can present all of them but they will not interview or hire a guy until they have at least one female manager. After that they don't care and will hire the best candiate.
Also in this situation it looks discriminatory to have all male managers and no females. So the question is can one discriminate in order to have a diversified /balanced management group.…
rent kind of folks". Did the references reflect that they may not have won the Miss/Mr. congeniality award but they did their job? Did the reference reflect that they did a good a job but nobody in hell wanted to work with them. Two different things to consider and maybe the way to present this kind of candidate.
He will never win the congenial, warm puppy award but his refs indicate that he does a good job and doesn't bother anybody unless they bother him first. May be a real selling point to hiring managers who are tired of their reports spending all their time visiting with each other.
Somehow i would guess that the jerkweeds don't spend a lot of time visiting with their friends on social media or even care if they have "Facebook privileges" at work.…
tes to me that they are (or at least someone in their organization is) somewhat interested in doing a decent job with CE. What I care about are the huge numbers of firms that aren't interested, and giving some companies awards for doing what every company should do as a matter of course is no more likely to improve things than giving awards to non-polluting companies will improve the overall environment, or to non-discriminating companies will improve the workplace. I strongly believe that even if something like the CandEs is necessary to begin the conversation (and I'm dubious about that), it sure as hell isn't sufficient to continue it and actually make a basic improvement in what the ordinary jobseeker goes through. for whatever reason recruiting is fun, it's challenging, if you are good at it you make money to support your family or your horses or your golf addiction. Your clients like you or you find new ones that do like you and the way you work. Whether your candidates are active passive, semi active, asleep at the wheel until you wake them up it really does't matter. If it matters to your client then make a candidate out of spare parts and keep them happy.
If you don't like your clients find new ones, i just dumped a client who paid me over 100K a year for several years because the little darlings in the trenches were hell bent on competing with me instead of working with me. Fine Ef em and feed em fishheads and send em down the road. It took about 30 days to gear up to fill the gap. I am a whole lot happier and they are calling me to find the purple squirrels. Sorry, not without a retainer. I have enough clients who don't care where i find a candidate as long as they fit the team and can do the job. The execs i work with keep HR out of my way. I have several clients who are great HR types who know how to use a recruiter.
Some get all excited about what i call a recruited candidate and make me laugh when they ask me why they are looking. Cause doodle head , i recruited them. Are they actively looking, hell i don't know, i went after what you wanted, found it in a cottonwood tree 2 miles S. W. of Jackass flats. Now are you interested in what they can do or where i found them or if they are active or passive or constipated? Yes, tomorrow at 4:00 is a good time for them to come in. Thanks, let me know what you think after you speak with my person..repeat person i found that appears to fit the job.…
o would be max a uhaul move and cash hiring bonus of 5 to 8K came back asking for a relo packkage grossed up for tax that was equal to about 70K. Uh, hell no , here is the offer 125K, uhaul and 5K bonus. He comes back with, no way i need at least 10K and physical move and about the insurance. Don't care if the whole company has to wait 90 days. I can't do that. Nope no way it is what it is. Candidate says No can't do it, even if i only have to move 100 miles from where i am now, thank every body and sorry, can't do it.
The Fat lady has sung. Everybody notified and everybody deflated after a five month search. Candidate sends an email last night. "This is such a great job and great company i will take the offer they made me. So knowing the answer this old girl sends his email on anyway. Employer is bumfuzzled, conference call, what should we do. My decision...Pass guys , he was told, ignored it, turned it down twice. Maybe he got drunk last night and bumped his head but we don't need any yo yo's
Bottom line. Down the porcelin after months of work becasue the candidate refused to listen to his recruiter and took the advice of some career consultant on line as to it never hurts to ask. and always negotiate. Bad advice has been the ruin of many an opportunity. Another casualty of the guru crowd. I hate em'.…
