If you are going to work from home, you must above all be self propelled , disciplined and have cooperation from the family. Spend the morning marketing MPC's to places that can hire them..if you have one niche, set a goal of X amount of reachouts per morning.. phone or email is ok, doesn't matter, just get started..if you have two niches, give each one X amount of reachouts for an equal number of hours. Spend the afternoon recruiting for the positions you have. If you don't have any resumes flowing in yet, keep digging for companies to pick people from. Remember, there are companies you've never heard of, that have the people you want, it's just that they aren't on linkedin, or on facebook, or in this or that directory, so be a digger of information. Then head off to the part time job..it's difficult, but sometimes necessary.. do what you have to do, but be sure you are always doing the important work of looking for candidates, and looking for homes for your candidates. You have three kids right? biggest problem with working from home is the family who lives there with you..you need to have discussions about boundaries..as in, nobody interrupts dad when it's phone time, for any reason. some wives and significant others have a hard time accepting that you are actually at work when you are working from home.. guys who work third shift experience this too.." but you're home all day. you have to handle the kids / household repair / whatever"...it can get ugly unless you lay down some rules. here's the flipside..for the right to isolate yourself from your family for X amount of time to pursue your dream, you damn well better be pursuing it hard..no web surfing for stupid crap, or watching TV or picking up dog poop in order to avoid phone calls.. not saying you do that, but every home based guy ( not just recruiting) I know has these issues in some form or another...and when you promise that "saturday we are going to the zoo", don't let them down. their time is their time, and your work time is your work time, that's how it works. about the three months and no placements - it could be the economy, it could be your niche, it could be a lot of things, but the only cure i can think of for that is to have more going on...do more..expand into more niches, or go deeper in the one ya got, and do it consistently, and things should happen much more quickly. …; Added by Thomas Patrick Chuna at 3:46pm on March 19, 2011

Where they get this crap must be from reading tea leaves or a vision from the great spirit. Not only were they all over the board every one of them were higher than what i know to be the salary ranges paid here. Except one which was so low i wondered if it had been updated since 1980. I ask a candidate to give me their "magic number" if it is within the range my client will pay i will run with it no matter what they make now. If it's high then i tell them i can't hit it and ask them for current salary. If i can get them an increase we discuss it to see if they are going to be reasonable. The ones that are not workable are the ones who have not worked in several years and decide that they will only accept what they were making three years ago adjusted for cost of living when they should be willing to take a little less than what they were making. One of mine who has not worked since 2004 decided if she was making 100K then she should get a minimum of 100K probably more because she made that much 7 years ago. I finally had to tell her that i would be lucky if i could get her an interview at all at any salary. She thinks i am an idiot but i guess there are a lot of idiot recruiters out there because she still is not working. It could also have something to do with wanting a company to ship her household goods from overseas . She was told by someone that moving things from Texas to LA would not cost anymore than moving them from England to LA. Honestly wish i had some of the stuff the gurus are smoking or swallowing then this nutty stuff would just make me giggle.…; Added by Sandra McCartt at 6:04pm on October 28, 2011

Topic: Just Another Manic Monday?: Bernard Shaw Thank goodness for the weekend, right? We leave work at the office (hopefully), get some household chores done, catch up with friends, get out to see a movie, or just sleep in and watch DVDs. We take the weekend to recuperate and then hit the office Monday morning, bright and early, with the intent of moving mountains by lunch time. Too often, however, after just a couple hours and/or a few disappointments, we lose some momentum. How can you keep the momentum going? How can you keep that new attitude upbeat and fresh as a daisy? It isn't easy to conquer disappointments or stay positive in the wake left by a disturbance in your own force. We try to self-medicate by hitting the coffee pot six or seven times or snacking. Maybe a cruise through facebook will take your mind off your troubles or spending the rest of the morning dropping a tweet or two while scanning through your followers. Getting back on task is really the way to cure what's ailing a Monday mid-day crash. Review the previous week's activity, make necessary follow-up calls, do a little business development, take advantage of the fact that everyone else just had a weekend, too. New attitudes have popped up everywhere presenting new opportunities. Ward off blue Mondays the week before; schedule appointments or meetings for Monday, hold project reviews, update your website and job board postings, or plan Monday luncheon appointments. If you fly solo, staying motivated becomes a bit more difficult, but not impossible. Many of the same suggestions above will work, just tweak them a bit to fit into your lone practice. Having a well planned-out Monday before you even sit down to your desk will help you fight off the urge to loaf. Gird your loins, look yourself in the eye, and answer your plan. Three Tips to Avoid a Monday Morning Loiter: 1. Plan your Monday the Friday before. 2. Stick to an allotted amount of time for internet surfing and social media habitation. 3. Tell yourself "No!" when temptation to loaf rears its ugly head. Squelch any non-business urges.
