True, there are some Sourcers who pre-screen . . . and they're more valuable than the Internet Name Generator. There are also Super-Sourcers who actually build trust with the candidate. They're even more valuable than the pre-screener, but to quote Jerry, they're "Partial Recruiters". 99 times out of 100, they work internally with the organization, and regardless if the other team members know it or not, they become a sounding board for the candidate and a true partner in the hiring process. These Sourcers are worth their weight in gold, and it often takes a while before they're recognized as critical players themselves.
Let us also remember that pre-screening is a turn-off. Movers and Shakers want to have real conversations, not be pre-screened. That's why there are so many falloffs in the 'pre-screening' phase, yet this is something the market doesn't like to talk about. You can pre-screen an entry-level or desperate candidate, but a mover and shaker will leave you listening for crickets.
