I was honored to receive the prestigious Pericles Achievement Award, an annual national award for performance excellence, from the Employment Management Association (EMA) which is now part of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) representing Employment Managers of very large, large, medium and small companies from throughout the country. The 1989 Pericles Achievement Award inscription read: For Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Human Resources to Valentino Martinez – “… SERVICE COMMITTED NOT TO THE FEW BUT TO THE WHOLE BODY OF THE PEOPLE.” Oration of Pericles 431 BC.   Within SHRM the EMA has been renamed Staffing Manager Association (SMA).
