You may already know that social networking sites like LinkedIn and Twitter can supplement your job search. Since Twitter has a simple and open platform, people are continuously exploring ways to use the service in order to achieve their goals. We've seen employers and job boards that post new opportunities on their Twitter accounts, but crowdsourcing may be another way that you can leverage your Twitter networks.

Crowdsourcing, or the outsourcing of a task to a large group of people, is a concept that TheJobBored is testing on Twitter. Their Twitter Job Search Experiment utilizes a network of Twitter followers in order to find someone a job. Rather than posting job openings, @JobEachDay features job seekers. Each day, the job seeker of the day is to receive any tips or leads. The person who gives the best tip becomes the featured job seeker on the following day. So, there is an incentive for helping a random person in need.

As TheJobBored says, job search networking is often limited to who you know. If you're lucky, you may make random connections, online or offline. Where random and intentional meet, TheJobBored's Twitter Job Search Experiment is a great example of how proactive Twitter use can help you find your next opportunity.

It appears that JobEachDay is currently on hiatus, but there are other ways to crowdsource your next job. If you have a large Twitter following, you can ask your network if anyone has a tip for you. You could also reach out to people or organizations that have Twitter networks that may be of interest to you. @IvyExec would be a great place to start!
