Top 25 Jobs – The StaffingU Market Demand Report

Recently I was asked how I recommend you use the information in our Market Demand Reports and what are the potential results. Here are two examples of what some of our clients are doing with this information and the latest list of the top 25 jobs.

1. As part of a strategy we discussed in a coaching conversation, a healthcare staffing company in Colorado printed the Top 25 Jobs report from our site and took it to their client meeting. Upon learning and seeing the increased demand…

What Message is Your Sales Strategy Sending?

Nancy, a current member of my coaching program, shared with me the following success story…

“I called on a new prospect for a number of weeks. Each time, I got his voicemail and left him the Front-of-the-Box message you taught me. Within two months, he called me back to give me an order. He said he picked me because I had called him six times (WOW, he counted the number of messages I left!). And he said that he appreciated my follow-through and that this made him hopeful that I’d be… Continue

Simply Profitable (TM)

Why do some companies achieve nonstop growth and perpetual profits while many others do not? The answer is the simple focus of consistently executing the key actions and behaviors that promote a sustainable business.

One important aspect of being Simply Profitable™ is that your sales function must persist to the 80th percentile and, when it does, your closure rate of business will substantially increase. So, what is the 80th percentile? It’s the fact that 80% of all business is…

Radical Accountability

Like the neglectful parent who turns a blind eye to the potentially harmful actions of a child, many leaders engage in at least periodic neglect of staff. Inconsistent accountability, lack of metrics and goals, and regular shifting of strategies (also known as the flavor of the month) are just a few ways managers perpetrate employee neglect.

Some of you who read this will immediately believe that “many leaders” does not include you. Yet, you’re probably at least an occasional and,… Continue

Tragic Actions

Last week my city of St. Petersburg, Florida experienced the shocking loss of Officer Jeffrey Yaslowitz and Sgt. Thomas Baitinger in the line of duty. As I passed through the miles-long funeral procession route on Friday, I witnessed hundreds of citizens of all ages, some proudly waving American flags, lining the roads to pay their respects. I could not help but feel a combination of deep sadness for the circumstances and inspired joy at the support shown through the actions of the men, women,… Continue

The Myth of Client and Candidate Control – Eliminating One of the Most Damaging Business Practices of Our Industry

On April 20, 1999, Cassie Bernall, a 17-year-old student at Columbine High School, faced a life and death choice — tell the boy with the gun what he wanted to hear or tell him the truth. Being strong in her convictions, she chose the truth and he choose to end her life. This tragedy is one of the saddest moments of that decade and it holds for us a powerful truth about control over others: we have none. Each and every person we work with has the power of choice and nothing we say, nor how we…

Prophet for Profits

Profound visionaries have reaped financial rewards as they’ve changed our world by anticipating our needs and desires. For example, the iPad I am using to type this post has improved my mobility and productivity while allowing me to maintain great work-life balance.

As a prophet for your customers, you’ll bring them tremendous value by thinking four steps ahead on their behalf. Anticipate the needs they cannot envision or even create the need they will willingly adopt. Your vision… Continue

Pepto Bismol for the Verbal Vomit

Watch most salespeople and you’ll observe the spewing of factoids, details, and feature-benefit chunks of information all over prospective clients. Even leaders engage in this projectile-like communication as they tell their subordinates what to do and how to do it.

For decades, great lip-service has been given to the idea that we should listen more than talk and that we were given two ears and one mouth as proof. Yet, many spouting this wisdom continue to inundate those around them… Continue

Zebras and the New Year

The most discernible difference between an elderly zebra and its offspring is the fading of the older animal’s stripes. Yet, it’s still a zebra, with all the characteristics that differentiate it from other species. Like these majestic equids, we remain much the same throughout our lives. Our “stripes” (character, personality, integrity, and behavior) may fade as we mellow and grow wise with age, however, our core attributes, such as our strengths and weaknesses, are always with… Continue

StaffingU: A Mile or an Inch

I’ve seen a multitude of smart people fail in business and scores of modestly intelligent individuals achieve  great success. It’s not how brilliant you are or how talented you maybe that determines your success, it’s  persistence. Yet many believe they are persisting as a result of the sheer volume of work they complete each day. Tenacious effort only pays off if you focus on driving a few things a mile to completion…
