Trouble Collecting My Fee

My client hired someone after 5 months without telling me according to my contract they owe me the whole fee. The applicant left the job 3 months later because the job was misrepresented. I lowered my fee to 10% of the annual fee to make the client someone happy and now they have told me they only want to pay me 10% of the applicants earnings.This is absurd. Do you have any suggestions. I may have to take legal action. This is not a good client to mine it is first placement I made with them.

Comment by Steve N Odell on March 20, 2013 at 9:15am: If they were a member of any association/coalition I would report them to all the members and I would sue them if they didn't pay it. I had that happen one time from another firm many years ago. I reported them but didn't sue them and I should have.

Comment by Chandra A. on March 20, 2013 at 9:22am: I am going to do what I have to do, the bad ones make this entire industry look bad and that is just what we don't need since many hiring managers and companies think we are all bottom feeders anyway. (Sorry, I am very honest...) Fortunately, I know some of the key players in this and my ex husband is a contract attorney. Many years ago there was actually a list of agencies and some companies that didnt pay their fees. Most just change the company name, become a different LLC and keep doing what they have always done. SAD
