I just wanted to stress that if full-time positions are being filled interns, the interns should probably be paid. As the NY Times points out <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/03/business/03intern.html" target="_blank">here</a>, unpaid internships are more often illegal than not. As someone who found herself in unpaid internship positions after a career change (and during a hard economy), I definitely felt like I was being taken advantage of by some employers. I think it's important to compensate the bottom of the totem pole and discuss the timeline of the internship.
