Hi, Amy...

I am new here and am catching up on old posts.

"...great agency recruiters act in the best interest of whoever's writing the check. Nice crap-stirring post though I'll give you that..."

Brava!

See 'ya....

Thanks for the reply Amy.  It sounds like you (or your UK people) have it well covered and I am not sure Zones would be in my sweet spot (finding C/VP level staff for early stage software start-ups) - but, heh, if anything does come up you (or they) think I could help with, I always say a conversation is never wasted. I am very open and honest about what I can and cannot do with clients and potential clients so I wouldn't take something on I couldn't deliver on.

Anyway, as I say, it sounds like you guys have it covered.  Good to touch base with you.

All the best,

Dyll

Hi Amy,

Sorry for the rather random wall post out of the blue but I have seen a few of your posts on RB and you seem a very sensible and knowledgeable internal recruiter.  I checked out the Zones website and it seems you guys are soley US based which probably means I can't be of much help to you (more than your existing US based recruitment partners at least) as I am UK based and specialise in mainly start-up companies based or looking to set up in Europe/EMEA. . . but if that ever changes let me know.

It is refreshing to hear an internal recruiter who understands the value of a good external head-hunter.  You clearly know your job and your company's needs and know that working with good 'externals' can help you achieve your goals too.

Apologies again for the random post but I thought I'd take some time to point that out :-)

Amy -

Thanks for connecting! I really enjoy the content you put out and I look forward to tackling some other 'debates' out here!

I noticed your recruiting is like dating comment.  I'm a 3rd party recruiter doing extensive cold calling which also seems like dating.  To me, it's like being in a social situation and either striking up a conversation with a guy or asking a girl out.  Feelings are very much the same.  With the girls, so are the 'turndowns.'
