What is important to an agency recruiter?

I moved away from agency recruiting 7 years ago. Why you might ask? Could I not hang or make the placements? Was I not able to bring in new clients? How about - Could you not close?

Answer: I was always a top performer and brought in so much potential business at the last agency I worked for that it positioned them for purchase. So this not it... not performance based.

I woke up one morning and asked myself why am I doing this? What do I really want to achieve? And I began…

Are people ignoring their LinkedIn inbox because of too many messages from recruiters?

I have been using LinkedIn since the beginning and have had a LinkedIn Recruiter account for the last few years. I was doing a audit of my current account usage, as well as trying different formats to increase responses. With a current accept rate of 15%, I should be happy with the results, right? Where is Technology going?

Things get smaller, faster, and more expensive in some cases. I was watching Predator 2 and was surprised by how they had to use pay phones or be by a phone to communicate. What is more important to our society, ease of use or power of functionality? I believe it lies in the middle. People interact more freely and…

What is free anymore? Not your time.

In some ways, I pride myself on being able to recruit without having to spend a dime on anything more then the basics. I grew my LinkedIn network to over 11,000 direct connections and became a master at guessing email addresses. Boolean searching is not only tricky, but really fun. It brings a smile on my face to find the right person just from Google. Its that needle in the haystack game in many ways.

But who really knows how to do this? Is this a lost (or never found) art…

Random job board spam - are you a culprit?

Every day I seem to get an email saying I am perfect for a Java or Oracle or other tech job because someone did a key word search on a job board and just messaged everyone. Sure they might toss in a statement to refer someone else if this is "not quite a fit" for me. What does this say to candidates that see your message? How validated do you feel? It makes me feel like the person sending the message has no concern what my background is and is just tossing things against the wall hoping…
