We know that the Mobile Internet is growing rapidly. By now everyone should have seen the graphs and predictions highlighting Mobile Internet being equal in usage with
Desktops by 2014 – just 4 years away!

But do candidates want to look for jobs on their Mobile?

Our experience supporting companies reaching candidates via mobile gives us a unique insight to the demand, activity and success of Mobile Recruiting. In short I can say – yes candidates do want to search for
jobs and develop their career on mobiles.

We (Allthetopbananas.com) carried out research to illustrate and qualify our experience. We spoke with hundreds of online job seekers some who have not used Mobile Recruiting apps and some that have used
Mobile Recruiting apps.

Here is an executive summary for you to get your teeth into,

  • AppStore or Google Market is where people went to find apps, however 20% went looking for apps based on recommendations from a friend or a website.
  • 95% of Smartphone owners when asked said they would consider job seeking on their mobile.
  • 90% of Smartphone owners when asked said they would use Push Notifications / Direct Alerts.
  • Of all mobile users 80% would like to learn more about hiring companies on their mobile.

Interstingly the importance of various features changes when questioning those who have used a Mobile Recruiting app. This illustrates an adoption curve, after using an app the desire for the
following increased.

  • Video advice
  • Interview or CV advice
  • Email job back to their PC / Mac

The biggest single request when asked to suggest new features via an open question was “give us push notifications to stay up to date with suitable jobs or advice”.

The findings confirmed our insight from supporting brands such as Monster and TotalJobs with their Mobile Recruiting strategy.
