Words to the Wise - Recruiter in the Balance

Words to the wise from a recruitment veteran of forty years- besides being dedicated to the recruiter's life (whatever that may mean to you) along with taking care of personal responsibilities with family, etc.--make an effort to have sideline activities such that they take you away from the rigors of recruiting (because traversing the terrain can become rigorous, even difficult).

I say this for two reasons—particularly for the gung-ho recruiter.  First, it’ll allow you to decompress a little from your full-time work; and second, allow you to pursue, develop and enjoy your other interests and talents.  For me it’s family, athletic competition and photography.

Believe it or not—such activities can improve your sanity and actually make you a better recruiter. I’ve creatively integrated them into my recruiting activities—making sure they do not detract or diminish my efforts and results.

Thanks, Tim--

Having burned the candle wick down to the a nub in the front-half of my 40 years, being the best I could be, was at a huge price away from familly.  The past twenty was spent making up for that lost time.  I'm glad I came to my senses before I imploded.
