Google+ now tops 86,000 users and with new brand pages, companies are exploring this this social media platform as a viable business strategy. A few months ago, we reported that the first signs of hiring for professionals with Google+ skill sets had begun. Hiring activity since then continues to reflect this. Over the past 90 days, more than 100 jobs that include Google+ in the job description or required skills have been advertised online. Of the 22 companies currently advertising for Google+ skills, 15 are employers and 7 are recruiting agencies.

Hiring over the past 90 days was the highest in New York, NY and San Francisco, CA. Recruiters in these 2 cities posted about 50 job ads in this time period, slightly less than half of all the job ads that include requirements for Google+ skills. Since this is a new technology and many of the jobs are for IT related jobs (which are hard-to-fill in general), it is likely that Recruiters will find these jobs difficult to fill. According to the Hiring Scale™, the national talent pool consists of about 5 potential candidates per job opening. Recruiters in NY, however, are likely to see more difficult recruiting conditions, with only about 4 potential candidates in the workforce for every job advertised online. In comparison, the talent pool in San Francisco is twice as large as the national average with about 10 potential candidates in the workforce for each available job. We are also able to see that the advertised salary range for jobs located in New York is higher than average. The salary in NY ranges from $100,000 to $115,000. In comparison, the national advertised salary range for jobs that include Google+ skills is $83,000 to $100,000.
