Twitter’s new features - Group Chat via Direct Message & Video Tweets

Twitter is definitely one of the popular social media channels used by most individuals and it has no intention of relinquishing its title either. As a result it has upgraded its features to improve the experience of its growing user base. Twitter’s two new features i.e. Group Chat via Direct Message and Video Tweets. The Group Chat via Direct Message enables users to interact with more than one individual at a time privately.

As a regular Twitter user, I’m sure you’re familiar with the Direct Message feature that is used so often to interact with individuals at large. The upgrades to Twitter’s features, now helps users not only to connect with one individual but to a group of individuals simultaneously.

Now converse with a group of Individuals, privately

Did you know that you can now converse with more than one person at a time through Direct Message (DM)? Well Twitter’s new feature of Group Chat (similar to WhatsApp) helps you to create a Group of 20 people to chat with. Here’s how it works…

  • You can add people who you follow and follow you back in the Group Chat
  • You will be able to view the conversation of a member you aren’t following; if you have a two way connection with a person who has a two way connection with you and with the one who you aren’t following
  • Individuals who have been blocked by people in the group cannot be added into that group
  • When an individual is added, that person will receive a notification that they have been added
  • Even the information shared within the group will only be viewed by the ones that have been added

If you thought this was enough you’re mistaken, as you can do a lot more with the simple feature of Direct Message. You can now make it even more exciting as a result of these new features.

Now you can Capture, Edit and Share Videos with the help of Tweets

With the help of Twitter’s Video Tweets you can now capture live moments and create a 30secs video that can be edited to suit your needs. You can even add it to a Tweet you wish to send either within the group or individually. Since, Twitter is a Micro Blogging site you have a limit to the character usage where tweeting is concerned. So once you’ve added your video the number of characters you can use will automatically be updated to accommodate your video in the Tweet. You will be alerted about the characters you can use before you tweet it. Make sure you hit the play button to get a preview of the video before you tweet it.

There you go, you can now send Tweets with videos too and a message along with it, to convey your views about the event that is recorded and in the process also share memorable moments individually or within groups as well. Now isn’t that great!
