This is my first of many to come blog posts. I am in the starting phase of realizing my goal; becoming a helping hand, a bridge, a facilitator, for valuable graduates and our great companies, right in my own backyard of beautiful West Michigan.

To do this, I have already made the mental transition of knowing I will soon be leaving my current role (a great one!) as a Production Engineer in my first job after graduating engineering school. I would venture to say that this is something most recent grads have not done. But, this is must for me. I have a small feeling of emptiness leaving the field of engineering. However, in the wake of the need for quality individuals, coupled with the lack of genuine recruiters, I know that taking this step will provide a highly valuable service to others involved, as well as fill the void.

How can I know? Passion. That is it. I have always taken great pride in being a reference and helping others search for jobs, whom have the skills to succeed. This may sound crazy coming from someone who has no job orders to fill at the moment. But this is not enough to stop me. On the contrary. It is only a motivator to do more. To grow and nurture my relationships with prospective clients and candidates. Trust is not built overnight, such is the case with any great thing worth working/fighting for!

My values (click here), past work experience, and education are a unique combination to offer my clients and prospective candidates. An opportunity to work with an individual who cares about them and their success. At SMARTS you won't be a number, a dollar sign. You'll be the most important person to me.

Join SMARTS in the effort to change, albeit small in contrast to the recruitment industry, the current view of recruitment as a sales industry. It is a service industry, where helping others should be the number one priority. Lets start right here, in our own Michigan communities.

Without lofty goals, the bar cannot ever be set higher than it was.

Cheers!

Chuck
