Social Media Sourcing Methodologies that Actually Work

Sourcecon Spring 2016 Part 12!! “Social Media Sourcing Methodologies that Actually Work” by Todd Davis and “Sourcing Productivity Hacks” by Kelly Dingee.

So this is the 12th presentation of the conference and the 2nd Labs of day 2. There were 2 titled “Social Media Sourcing Methodologies that Actually Work” by Todd Davis and “Sourcing Productivity Hacks” by Kelly Dingee.

In this Lab Todd talks about the need for check lists to ensure you are doing the things you need to do.

“Good checklists, on the other hand are precise. They are efficient, to the point, and easy to use even in the most difficult situations. They do not try to spell out everything--a checklist cannot fly a plane. Instead, they provide reminders of only the most critical and important steps--the ones that even the highly skilled professional using them could miss. Good checklists are, above all, practical.”

― Atul Gawande, The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right

He then goas on to discuss “SMART” Goals

  • Specific -- Do set real numbers with real deadlines.
  • Measurable -- Do make sure that you can track your goal.
  • Attainable -- Do work toward a goal that is challenging but possible. Don't try to take over the world in one night.
  • Realistic -- Do be honest with yourself, because you know what you and your team are capable of. Don't forget any hurdles you may have to overcome.
  • Time-bound -- Do give yourself a deadline. Don't keep pushing towards a goal you might hit "some day."
