There’s no doubting that we all care about money. However you look at it, the money we earn in our jobs supports our families, allows us to own that home we’ve always lusted after, and for some allows us to become the sugar daddy/momma we’ve always wanted to be… If that’s your bag…

So when we are looking for a new job, is money still the biggest and sometimes only factor in our decision to move?

Well yes, a recent study by the Aberdeen Group (2016), found that financial stability is still the most important factor in finding a new position – but not just in the traditional sense of looking at the pound signs.

Mission & Vision
We won’t have confidence that the business can provide us financial stability if we don’t understand the mission and the vision of it. We put our faith and trust in the leaders of the business, that they will guide us to continual success, and that we will therefore reap the rewards. However, we don’t just choose to believe it anymore, we want to understand it, get under its skin and know where our place is in it all!

Honesty & Authenticity
We need honesty from our employers… what are the goals for 2017? What are we trying to achieve? How are we going to stand out in the market we operate in? Without this, we won’t believe. We need to trust that the journey that the business is going on will continue to follow the journey we want for ourselves, and continue to provide us that financial stability we are after. It’s important that our employers are human!

Progression & Plan
We want to know how we are going to grow personally, what support we will receive and when promotion will happen for us… and we never stop wanting to know these things. We put our trust in our employers, that they will support us. This motivates us and helps us to work hard all year round!

Employer branding will be more important than ever in 2017: it’s increasingly a candidate market out there in a lot of industries. We must be properly represented in the market, especially on those hard to fill roles, and we must be able to deliver for our potential employees.
