3 Unique Careers That Allow You A More Flexible Schedule At Home

When you have a job outside the home, it can be hard to schedule time to spend with your kids, to clean the house or to enjoy time with friends. Aside from quitting your job, which likely isn't an option financially, you might want to consider looking for a career that allows for a more flexible schedule so that you can spend more time at home. Do some research before making a final decision of what you want to do as some careers look promising from the beginning only to result in more time that is spent on the computer or the phone, which negates your initial reason for finding another job.

Accounting

If you like numbers, then consider a career in accounting. You will probably need to take some classes at a community college or online as there are some concepts that are foreign to the general way of thinking about numbers. However, once you have an accounting certificate or degree, you can do everything from preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses to maintaining financial books for companies. All you need is a computer and the proper software to keep up with the information that is recorded and processed.

Managing Properties

Being a property manager is an ideal career for someone who wants to stay at home more often. A real estate license isn't usually required. However, it's beneficial so that you can sell individual homes along with managing a large complex. As a property manager, you are responsible for everything from taking applications for those who want to live at the complex to dealing with issues that arise in the homes or apartments. You are responsible for payments and evictions along with hiring workers for the office and the grounds. It can be a fun career if you're organized and can think ahead with what you want the property to look like and how you want residents to feel. You can manage property on your own or work with teams like Calibre Real Estate, which can both provide unique careers options.

Massage Therapy

Going to school to be a massage therapist means that you can usually set up a small studio in your home to give massages to clients. You can set your own schedule and really give yourself flexibility. This is also a very rewarding line of work as you are able to help people relieve pain and other ailments, and continue on in their lives feeling much better. You can really get that self-satisfying feeling that not only are you providing for yourself, but you’re helping to better the lives of others as well. The field is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.

Finding a career that is flexible can be a challenge. However, with more companies letting employees work from home, it's getting a bit easier. You can also go into business for yourself to set your own hours in order to function better as a family.
