The experts have spoken, and 2018 is going to see some amazing things. Here's what you need to be aware of as we begin the new year:

There's going to be a surge of M&A's. We've already seen Disney/Fox and CVS/Aetna, but experts say this is only the beginning. The economic boom encouraged many people to start their own companies, and markets are now oversaturated. Companies are going under, and many are looking to sell. before that happens. Hiring someone experienced in M&A could be a smart move this year.

The Office Space. No, not the movie; employees are struggling to get certain work done in open cubicles. Companies are beginning to come out with a quiet room -- a place where an employee can have a minute to think in silence or take a sensitive phone call. This room serves a double function for those with sensory issues.

Retraining. We live in an age full of information, but that information is constantly changing. Wise employers are sponsoring their employees to take classes continually and attend seminars. Don't be surprised when talk of benefits includes paid continuing education. Competition is tight, and every advantage helps. This is a reason that employers are creating a new position...

CLO's: Chief Learning Officers. This job function's sole purpose is to stay on top of what every employee knows and what they need to know and working to achieve it. CLO's study every trend and see what the next big thing will be, and they invest in the employees so they're ready to make it a reality for the company.

A change in product endorsement. Right now, anyone could write a blog post and endorse a certain product. With so many, consumers are becoming irritated and seeking not just an endorsement, but an informed endorsement. Many companies have a "testimony" section on their website, but consumers want more. They don't want someone paid to give an endorsement; they want to hear from someone who actually uses it.
