This past week I was knocked to the mat, no, taken to the floor. In a couple of moments it was as though riding on a high, I was brought back to the earth again-well not that bad.

I think we all go through moments where we know we have been successful, and then we have a moment where we find that life, or in general our perspective, takes a turn when a bump in the road called life turns up. This is good, it means its time to turn it up a notch or two and regain the perspective of where your life is going.

I found that the other day, while returning to my motivational, set the stage to win webpage: www.walkthetalk.com that I needed a particular motivating movie, called Finish Strong. While watching it, I felt new life course through me, as though it was time to take it up, take it to the hoop, get that ball moving again, get that touchdown.

It showed among other things, successful people who had overcome incredible life difficulties revving up their engines again and winning in life and business, and their chosen field of endeavor.

A Dale Carnegie quote was especially exhilirating from the movie:

"Most of us have far more courage than we ever dreamed we possessed."

So true. While watching the Olympics the other day, I saw inspiring moment after moment, when I was a bit grumpy, and we all have our days-suddenly I was on a new high. These athletes motivate me in a way that I have never seen before. I feel goose bumps whenever I turn on the TV and watch Michael Phelps seamlessly get another medal. Wow. What a pick-me-up. What an inspiring group of athletes.

Do you remember the opening ceremony, 7 ft 6 inch tall Yao Ming of China, walking next to a 9 year old boy. This nine year old boy was a hero, a young man who had after a devastating earthquake, freed himself from the rubble to go back and help his classmates. I understand he helped to save a couple of his friends. When asked why he did this he said: "I am a leader in my class, this is my responsibility, I am a hall monitor." I was touched by this event. I was incredibly motivated and moved. If a young man can lift himself out of the rubble to help others, then when we face life's bitter storms, I think it is safe to say, that we can draw strength and renewed vigor to do well, whatever life throws our way. I beleive this.

How important it is, to get into a groove and stay there. How important it is to look at each new day as a refreshing opportunity. Life has its ups and downs and we have our moments where we will need a distinct pick me up, where we gear up for a fresh and new perspective. I think that when we arrive at that pinnacle, suddenly life leaves us with a renewed and viable perspective. There you are, at your peak. Courage is reinstilled. I think so critical to have your perspective geared up.

So what does this have to do with recruiting? Clearly, you cannot shine on the phone or in your life's work if you are not full of confidence, courage, and powerful perspective. For if you are, you will soon find the direction you should be headed. For shining in recruiting leads to all out success. I have never doubted that fills and matches will come when these types of life perspective are at the forefront of all you do. So here is a loud shout out to a small nine year old boy who gave this man an incredible perspective standing next to one of the most incredible basketball players in the world, Yao Ming. In my mind this young man is the epitome of true selflessness, and in my opinion stands tall, stands tall like Yao Ming, wow-a true superstar. In order to be a good recruiter, selflessness is indeed the heart and soul. And what's more, the center of making the right match that will make a difference for years to come. Amen to that.

Ahh, wise words Mike! What a great way to view life's challenges. Having some background knowledge of some of your recent highs and lows, I can attest to the fact that you have faced them with honesty, humility, and courage. That integrity will only help to make you grow ever stronger!
