Looks like it's Ruffle Feather Monday here in Dieselville. This morning I read Interbiznet's ERNIE which has been so finely written by crusty ol' John "I'm contemplating my navel" Sumser since 1996 or so. Today's topic was another fawning piece by a supposed member of the new Rat Pack of Recruiting where a new and I'll keep unnamed recruiting expert offered three steps to finding the perfect candidate. I was laughing as I read these hot tips from someone whom I believed John was writing about - read on...

Thinking that John still wrote ERNIE and BUGLER, I emailed him earlier today...

Hope you're well – enjoyed your Indian travels on RBC. So is [name] now the new "it" person in recruiting, the one who read years of writings and musings by, well all of us, and now parrots back nothing new? LMAO - his "steps for success" do little more than reinforce that recruiters recruit based upon words and acronyms and not problems to be solved. Shally, Glenn, me – and so many others - we've written and spoken about his message in countless Recruiting 101 threads over the past 10 years plus; we still give it away for those who ask.

Are we just old news John? Is it time for us to retire??? lol

It's true - and it's also Jim Stroud and Barabara Ling and Maureen Sharib and the Microchicks and so many more whose names I can't recall who built ERE and electronic recruiting in earlier years - only to have new people say the same things over again in the present day without crediting the Masters before them who toiled and tested - and freely shared.

John emailed me back earlier today and I was surprised when I read he hasn't had anything to do with Interbiznet for years. So I re-read many of the recent pieces and sure enough, slap myself for skimming, but the quality definitely wasn't Sumserian.

So from now on, I'll be recommending to be people to read John's musings on his new site. Or as the late Paul Newman said, "I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?"
