Lower your turnover rate by 6 times…..

Now that I have your attention…..Did you know that the turnover rate for employees under 30 is six times greater than that of employees that are over 50? Yesterday I blogged on http://blog.wiserworker.com/ about tough times, and if your are going to survive and more importantly thrive you need to become tough job seekers. Stay with me……

Overnight I pondered on how this applies to the world of recruiting and guess what it does and in more ways than one. As the labor markets as well as our economy continues to change recruiters will need to be tough and resourceful to continue to meet numbers, make quality hires as well as adapt to the changing marketplace. In some respects I think this labor market is more of a challenge because you are getting hundred of applicants because you have to wade through the less qualified to get to the meat and potatoes of what you are really looking for in a candidate.

So back to reducing turnover it’s a fact that if you recruit the over 45 age job seeker you will make a better hire time over time. The over 45 candidates’ posses skills that you literally could never teach the Gen X’ers, they actually like to come to work. Yes you read it right they show up on time every day and on average use less sick days.

A tough recruiter who wants to excel in the current labor market will learn to think outside the box and look at a different kind of candidate.(the older candidate would be a great place to start) Make no mistake the coming months will be challenging, but look for what it is: a challenge. And we all know recruiters like a challenge!
