I love, love, love to solve problems – if there is a problem to solve or a need to fill, it is a happy day for me. Happy people almost always love what they do and end up doing it well because of it.

I have an intense curiosity about the business I am in and that I am supporting. I read, listen, ask questions, attend meetings, 'hang at the water cooler', chat, network, participate -- whatever I can to do to learn what/why/how/when/where we do it. This helps me both assess a candidate’s fit and help guide managers – much more than a job description ever did.

Their (HM/Client/Business/Team) goals are my goals, their pain points are my pain points, and their wins are my wins. It's not just filling positions folks -- if my HM has 2 major releases next year or has to increase their services revenues or profit margins by x%, whatever it is - I need to do my part to make that happen.

I want/need to add value – whether solving problems or filling needs, sharing market and competitive intelligence, helping build the network of my team (HM/client and recruiting – not just mine), etc. And it is incredibly satisfying when you are making a difference.

Lastly, extreme resourcefulness -- use every tool and resource available to help solve problems – including staying on top of the great content being developed right here on RecruitingBlogs.com! And I am not just saying that – a great way to be resourceful is to pay attention to the people who are smarter than you.
