Do It Yourself Hiring

I am a DIY kind of gal. I am hooked on home repair and landscaping programs. They make it look so easy! By the end of the program I am convinced I can successfully complete an entire kitchen or backyard transformation. After countless trips to the hardware store, spending hundreds of dollars, and consulting with the store experts I realize the project would have been completed faster, cheaper and perhaps look a whole lot better had I just hired a professional in the beginning.

I know a lot of companies who are DIY also. They run multiple ads, sift through hundreds of unqualified candidate resumes, schedule interviews where candidates don’t show up, and get behind on projects unrelated to hiring for the open position.

So many times we think we can do it ourselves and it can be quite satisfying to achieve success in something new. However it can be detrimental to a business if they don’t have the proper resources or allotted time to attract high quality passive candidates. Recruiters usually have a large network that allows them to connect with passive candidates an advertisement or job posting won’t reach. The best candidates are usually buried in excellence and aren’t looking at job boards for new opportunities. Hiring a professional recruiter can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars in lost productivity and tap into individuals the company may not ever have come across. Most recruiters also work within a specific industry so they are building a vast network of candidates who may be a perfect fit for an organization and they never have to run an ad.

So if you are thinking about starting a new DIY project, why not talk with a professional first. Working with a consultative recruiter can save your company thousands of dollars in lost production revenue and the right hire can make your company thousands more.
