I love twitter for a lot of reasons. I'm happy that I am alive in the same era that twitter arrived in because I love it that much. What I love the most about twitter though is how it works and how it enables a lot of possibilities and how it works with job distribution but the great thing is that twitter works I think with almost everything.

About a month ago Maren Hogan had a birthday and I was amazed at how many birthday wishes and retweets of birthday messages she got. I called up Miles Jennings and asked if he knew of something that allowed you to send cards and then have those cards aggregate all content on twitter that contained the hashtag used for that persons birthday. Miles said no but suggested a domain name we use and that was it for about a day or two.

Then I was talking with Ben Yoskovitz who is the CEO of StandOutJobs.com and I like talking with Ben because I think he likes talking to me and we both know we would probably enjoy working with each other. I was talking with Ben because I was first communicating with him on twitter and I told him I have an idea but it's a silly idea. He said he likes silly ideas so I called him and ran the idea by him.

Ben liked the idea and said he could help get the site built and help with some of the thinking around it all. I called Miles and told Miles that we could have this built in about a month. What's not to like about that so the three of us with the help of Maren talked it all through and discussed some details and figured out what made sense for launch date and what we were going to quickly add after that.

The site is called HashLove.com and it's really easy to send someone a birthday card on twitter with it and every time a tweet goes out with the hashtag associated with the original tweet, it all gets saved on the card. We are going to have cards for other occasions and plain old cards for every day things but for now it is birthdays.

What I like best about the site is how it came together and how if you pay attention you can see things that can be made fun and easy with twitter and it helps if you know people like Ben, Miles and Maren who without having her birthday this year would have meant no idea for a cool twitter card application.

This is the one I sent to Shania Twain and this one I like and here is one to Cameron Diaz and Guy Kawasaki and of course fnazeeri. Then there is my sister Penny.
