I am generally speaking, a pretty perceptive person. I tend to trust my instincts moreso than statistics or the like. I remember when I was in the 8th grade, my science fair project was unlike anything anyone else did. One reason was that I hated science and thought that logic was overrated. The other was that I was a weird kid. My science fair project was to determine if Extra Sensory Perception is more prevalent in twins than other siblings.

I know, a strange subject for a 12 year old - but I have never once classified myself as normal.

While my classmates were making volcanos and teaching mice to find the cheese, I made some flash cards with symbols on them, sat two twins at opposite sides of the table, had one look at a symbol and then had the other one draw the first image that came to their mind. I did this with a control group of twins, both fraternal and identical, and then with regular old siblings. Pretty basic stuff. There were no statistics involved, not a whole lot of research, just a hypothesis and test subjects.

The strange thing? I made it to the state level in the competition. For someone that sucked at science, not too shabby.

I find that I still conduct my research the same way. I observe patterns and trends and then I delve more deeply into them by conducting focus groups. Something I have noticed lately is that there IS something to this whole GenX/GenY debate.

Stay tuned...
