What would be the "One Best Approach" to the recruitment. Initial screening and final selection process ?

Recruitment is the process of finding and attracting a pool of suitable candidates for the vacancy. Many hiring managers have a difficult time recruiting top quality applicants for the very demanding jobs they are trying to fill.

Thus it is of vital importance to adopt one best approach for the recruitment process, from the initial screening till the final selection process. Best approach for recruitment should be:

• Time constraint
• Cost Efficient
• Quality Oriented

E-recruitment is the new hype in the job market, new online tools like Career sites, Social Networking sites, Blogs and YouTube help recruiters promote their companies and attract active as well as passive candidates. In the US, 90 per cent of large US employers are already using e-recruitment (Capelli, 2001).

After efficiently identifying the candidates, companies can do the Initial screening through online assessment tests, both behavioral and skill based, with which hundreds of applicants can be assessed and the top slot can be short listed for final selection saving companies time and cost.

Similarly, the process of final selection is performed in the similar fashion with a series of

• Interviews
• Tests and work samples
• References and health check up

HR usually takes the lead but recruiting best applicants is everyone’s job, every employee, every supervisor and every manager has a role and thus has a share in the benefits of recruiting the best applicants.
