Though it's not at all surprising, it's now official: Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze will square off against one another in the finale of the ninth season of "American Idol."

But what is probably surprising to you is...

...now you know I am a big fan of American Idol. Not only am I a fan, but my entire family watches American Idol religiously. When the show starts, everything else in our house come to a stop.

In my opinion, Crystal and Lee’s trek is not unlike Pinstripe’s journey to win a new Recruitment Process Outsourcing gig. We start with many competitors and then through a series of auditions over 3 to 6 months, it finally comes down to the final 2. During the initial phase of competition, being consistent and solid is critical. And then as the field narrows it becomes increasing important to, as Kara DioGuardi would say, have a “Moment.”

Also, just like in American Idol, when the competition is most intense, it is all about our’s ability to choose the right material and have a flawless delivery in order to win over the hearts and minds of the audience.

The two-part "Idol" finale kicks off Tuesday May 25th when DeWyze and Bowersox will have one last chance to impress America before a winner is crowned the next night.
