I've been exploring the Electronic Recruiting Industry for nearly fifteen years. These days, I do it mostly through my pet project, the Recruiting Roadshow™. For those of you who don't know, Recruitingblogs.com is the official online network of the Recruiting Roadshow™.

I also write regularly on my own website, johnsumser.com. Generally, there's a set of links each day. These are pointers to things I think are important or interesting. I regularly take a longer look at the changes in our industry from new tools to new people.

Jason Davis is building a very exciting environment here on recruitingblogs.com. There are a number of interesting original settlers who tend to be active and visible.

And then there are the new members. As I write, membership is rapidly approaching 6,000. It's easy to imagine 10,000 or 20,000 members in the near future. To make things work, part of the trick will be to learn how to see the things that are happening around the community.

Each Friday, in this space, I'll showcase things that are happening around the neighborhood. If you se something interesting, drop me a line by leaving a note on my page or sending me a piece of email (john.sumser at yahoo.com). Please tell me about things I need to see...blog postings, interesting new members, snippets of conversation, great videos ...anything you see that you think the rest of the community should see.

And, that's the tiniest tip of the iceberg..

I am really looking forward to a constant pattern of unearthing the treasures on recruitingblogs.com. As I mentioned, please let me know when you see something worth highlighting. It's how a community gets built.

Maren, that's a smart idea. I'll keep my eyes out for examples of the ways that people get to be themselves here on recruitingblogs.com. Let me know if you find interesting people and ideas.

I'll be at Kennedy talking about what I'm learning in the Recruiting Roadshow project. It's all about keeping the distinction between newbies and old timers minimized. One of the things I am really aware of is the focus on the select few. My experience is that every city has plenty of people who are every bit as good, smart, insightful and helpful as those on the national scene.

You've identified a critical component of recruitingblogs.com

It's all about "recruiters helping recruiters" and not too much about "I'm smarter than you".

Hey John - great to see you expanding your work! I can't believe that I've been following you for 9 years...now I feel old :)). And for Jason - the train keeps building speed and the continued growth and evolution of RecruitingBlogs.com is very cool. Looking forward to catching up in Vegas and of course the Portland Roadshow in June!

Obviously, Susan's new photo id is the result of a week or two at a Yoga Retreat. You probably don't know this yet bu JD and I are planning "Yoga Retreats For Recruiters" in Jamaica.

The Roadshow is headed to Portland right after the Cleveland event on April 29.
