Jerry, I read your blog on Splits and really like your comments. The only thing I would ask you is what do you do when there is a fall off. Who is responsible for replacing the candidate during the guarantee period?

Hi Nancy. As is typical in my tiny world of split partners - we all agree to honor the terms of the guarantee period. There are some agencies that actually hold the money until after the guarantee period is finished. I don't do that - but I'll also add I should probably give the topic a little more thought!

Hi Jerry, when a fall off does occur, if you have paid the other recruiter you are then faced with the fact that you need to fill the job asap for your client. You feel the recruiter that supplied the candidate should fill it, but in reality you should probably fill it yourself because you want to make absolutely certain your client is satisfied. If you have an arrangement to give the client half the money back or a credit note for next time, it just makes things even more complicated. At that point you need to get half the money back from the recruiter. It is food for thought. If you have good people in your split network it probably isn't that much of a problem. But getting money back from people is never very pleasant.
