I really enjoyed the diversity of RecruitFest this year. It was different than years past, but good in its own right. One of the light bulb moments for me was the discussion around auto-notification of candidates directly from the ATS. Well, I am terrified of it. Afraid to even check the little box that kindly offers to send an email rejecting the candidate for me. Why? I should love that this system is offering to do my dirty work, but I don't. So I tell myself I will get in touch with each candidate myself once the job is closed. That doesn't always happen, so I tell the candidates to get in touch with me as a safe guard.

I did it today. I rejected a candidate from the ATS. Now, I have this great sense of accomplishment. Sure, the auto message in the system totally sucked and I had to rewrite it, but I can fix that and make it a much better message. I clicked on the little box & now it is done, logged, and I have all this time to write this blog post.

I want to make one thing clear, I think this is important because no matter how good your intentions, we all forget to notify people. I think if I start telling people that my system will update them of these changes, they will want to Opt In to this feature.

Now, those of you who don't know BizWerks, may not realize we are not a Fortune anything company. We are a small, private, niche agency that
specializes in search. We use a free ATS. yes, that is right, even the
free ones have this capability. Imagine what would happen if we all just
turned on the notification button for one day. Job seekers might be a
little offended, but they would also be incredibly gracious at just
knowing where they stand.
