I’d assume that we blog on this Forum to share thoughts on the Recruiting Industry as it applies to our experiences of it. Hopefully, we get a chance to share, question, agree, disagree, learn and yes even debate the ideas proposed by its members.

Why are we afraid of debate? Why do we feel it wrong to question and or probe other ideas proposed on the Market in which we thrive?

We read a ton of ideas on Social Media and its impact on our Market – Its seems some of us would rather bury our heads in the sand instead of sharing intelligently a challenge that the market is or it’s not evolving. If we can’t question ideas proposed what is the point of blogging... We should be able to agree to disagree.

We all bring different experiences to the Market whether you are a Contract HR/Recruitment Consultant, a TPR, a VP HR, Internal Corporate Recruiter or a Social Media Expert. I’d like to think we can learn something from the Authors of these blogs and more importantly challenge intelligently when we differ with the ideas proposed ...

All debate welcomed!

I agree, the point is to debate and question ideas and sometimes learn from our fellow bloggers as we all work in similar arenas.
But from politics we should have learnt that debate and communication cease the moment people personalize their debate, and then focus only on differences between the debaters that are totally irrelevant to the discussion. This then becomes a form of bullying that reduces the debate into a back and forth slagging match. This can make for interesting reading but is not debating.
I enjoy the blogs on Recruiting Blogs and spend about 20 minutes scanning it daily. I think there is a fair amount of solid debating and good ideas being thrown around. But with that you will always get a minority that vents their frustration in a public forum. Being a public forum people should be aware that they could damage their business and personal brand or the opposite, depending on how well they promote their ideas.
Cheers Paul take care.

I appreciate the response Rayanne, Slouch and Ryan ... Yes I agree people do let their emotions get the better of them... And Ryan perhaps your right people do have their brands and or reputations to protect.

Thank you father Morphett.

The thing that makes blogging and debate so much damn fun is to watch folks who can't think of anything else to say launch into personal attacks or become a victim when they can't think of anything else to say but they think they have to keep saying it.

He who gets emotional and/or throws fits loses. It's sort of like getting to the end of the argument when one party or the other says, Aw fuck you! You're ugly and your mother dresses you funny.

Not to worry Father Morphett, every one who knows me knows i have a great mastery of the F word . I never use it in front of a man of the cloth or someone's mother unless they use it first.

Paul you took some unreasonable silly heat from someone who obviously didn't understand your position or what you do and or what you were saying so instead of realizing that they had gone off on a tangent of misunderstanding just went berzerko. It happens. That is when it's time for the "end of the argument or just making a monkey out of the monkey. Think about it. Some folks are just ADD or plain crazy.

Sandra ... Your're right and right again ... Sometimes I hold thinking that common sense would turn things around ... Some folks can't just say I guess we have to agree to disagree ... Which is ok !

CB - this thread has nothing to do with me. I'm a big boy - I can take it. Plus - since The Kid has already turned in his first timesheet - I've forgotten all the "he sucks - you'll never place him" comments and am moving on to my next placement......
