great article from the new york post regarding recruitment video's. for full disclosure, i work for jobing.com which is places a huge focus on recruitment video's.

before i joined jobing, i was a client that utilized the video. i believed it wasa great way to deliver more content to my candidates (passive/active) than just through a job posting or email blast. it was a way to engaged them and tease them a bit about who we are and what we do.

the purpose of this blog is to learn what recruiters think about recruitment videos. are they a valuable resource for recruiting? if so, are you using them? if not, why? is it to cost prohibitive? company standards preventing you from using them? are you getting people watch them and get more information about your company than before........

I believe that today, video is an absolutely critical component to candidate communications. We launched a unique video concept on our career website (www.rsmmcgladrey.jobs) this year, and have more plans to use the video we shot in other media channels in coming months. We other video concepts we are exploring as well at this time.

Why did we move forward with video on our career website? People simply don't read anymore. Multimedia is much more accessible and engaging today, and allows you to put names and faces along with the messaging. We don't have stats yet on how much our videos have been viewed but our we have received some nice comments so far on our resume submittal survey.

Good posting and it presents a question I'm still trying to answer. I have to echo Ben's feelings that video is a when not if question. Although there are some EEOC questions on dealing with videos they are a tool that needs to investigated by any recruiter who is serious about our business.

I've done dozens of video interviews for my XtremeRecruiting.tv web site and I can attest from my personal experience that they add a different dimension to a virtual relationship and are so much better than email, IM or phone that its not worth the comparison. If you don't have a camera get one (there cheap - under $50) and take a close look at Skype Video. Its also free and works.

I feel video is just as important in communicating with each other and our clients and peers as candidates. Maybe more important as I think about it.
