Dear Friends,

I'm want to do a few shows in which people call in and tell us 1 thing they learned over the last few months.

You'll get from 5 to 15 minutes to spill your guts (and argue with us if your story is interesting).

The topics desired: Something related to careers and recruiting.

This is a good way for Animal Show Alumni to revisit the show. Or for people who aren't interesting enough for a full hour to participate.

Please get in touch with me by email or Twitter or in the comments and I'm will schedule you.

Please Note: Usual warnings apply

I learned that walleye can be caught in any depth of water as long as you know what depth they're suspended at.  Well - I didn't really "learn" that per se - I always suspected it.  This summer I confirmed it......

I learned that when it's too damn hot to go outside i make more money, save more money when it's too hot to go shopping and spend more money when i start buying hay for the winter cause it's so damn hot and dry nothing will grow.  Maybe it's a joke from some diety that when it's too damn hot i make more money so i can spend more money cause it's too damn hot.

I learned that I'm really lucky to live in Seattle - no heat waves, no hurricanes, just enough sun so that I'm not Vitamin D deficient yet my pasty pale skin doesn't burn.

I learnt that "Those who get used to good things in life are at a disadvantage"

and realized "I love Fall because of College Football"

I took 'The Recruiting Animal' challenge and joined Klout to see where it would take my network.  I learned that while Klout is a lot of fun late at night when you can't sleep and there is nothing good on TV, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans.  When I gave +K to people I mostly did not know or wanted to get to know, some of them were delighted with the mention and forgot who I was the next day!  It's a lot of fun sometimes, but worthless...as Jerry Albright would say.

I learned that although 'The Recruiting Animal' opened a door to the discussion of religion on his show, I will never try to debate him again on the subject because he may or may not know more than I do and it is futile to carry it on.  (the debate)

I also have come to the conclusion that 94% of the recruiters and Sr. SPHR's who have hired me at various companies over the years, the ones who have filled my bank account with the most money, not only do not know how to use social media for their recruiting efforts - they don't give a flip about it.....which I already knew but confirmed it for myself recently.

And one last thing, the wonderful Karla Porter took time out of her busy day to teach me a thing or two about technology - Thank You, Karla :)

@Brenda i had forgotten that i had even signed up on Klout and started getting emails from them this week.  Huh?  When i looked at it i discovered that i had Klout with Rodeo.

The only thing i hate worse than a dude in a cowboy costume is a rodeo.  Do you hear me Klout..i hate rodeo.  Now i hate dudes in cowboy costumes, rodeo and Klout.  Go figure.  Maybe we should start a "hate list" for all things social media.

Mine says I have Klout about food - which I can only assume comes from my chocolate tweets with @havrilla

@Bill i once took the troops for a pre holiday lunch that involved some wine tasting.  We came back with phones ringing off the wall some two hours later.  One of the guys grabbed a phone and in his best recruiter voice said, "Greasons Seatings, Sopressional Perch".  We all went home.
