Recording - Recruiting Animal Show - Cora Mae Lengeman Part 2

Part way through the show today, Jerry Albright stopped the conversation to tell us that he had just received a Direct Message on Twitter from someone complaining that the show was incredibly boring.

Of course, one man's poison is another man's meatpie, so I'm sure it was boring for Jerry's contact -- but it wasn't boring to me.

Cora Mae Lengeman is a successful sole practitioner and I wanted to hear how she handles the most mundane, fundamental, nitty gritty aspects of her job.

At about the 45 minute mark Noah Roth called in to discuss a problem he is having. I'll introduce it here. Noah divides his recruiting office staff into 3 sections. (1) Sales reps - he calls it Business Development (2) Recruiters - He calls it Candidate Development (3) Database Entry.

Everyone is paid by draw against commission except the Database Entry person who gets an hourly rate on contract.

The recruiters select candidates from the database, contact them and present people who are interested to the clients. When Noah is short of manpower he asks the database entry person to take over the recruiting function on a specific job. She is a mom working from home and does the recruiting function by email. When she is working as a recruiter she is paid by commission just like everyone else. I don't know if she gets a draw though; I doubt it.

Recently, while working as a recruiter she found four candidates for one job. One got an offer but turned it down. Noah wants to give the assignment to another recruiter but he's not sure if he owes the data-entry person cum recruiter any part of the fee.

Other contributors to the discussion: Nate Fischer, Cathy Mannis, Mike Astringer, Steve Levy

Today was a very solid show. Cora really shared the way she goes about things, and Noah had an interesting issue he was dealing with. Good practical tips today and no Karaoke. We also got a new hashtag to play with #TRASH. Great job by everyone.
