That is just disgustingly nerdy. Add a baseball cap with sunglasses on the bill and a t-shirt with writing on it and you have the poster child for "The slobbing of America.".

If you're recruiting in socks & sandals you're most likely doing it in a virtual and casual atmosphere where you are quite comfortable.  And if you're comfortable that demeanor will be recognized and appreciated by those you come in contact with. 

Some workplaces can amount to a sweat-shop atmosphere where background noise can drown out good listening; create tension and confusion; and other downsides in the recruitment process.
