Not really a dilemma more of a CHALLENGE......

Hopefully everyone is having a good week so far and are looking forward to the 3 day weekend.  Now on to the meat of my blog..I have a challenge for all of you corporate or business recruiters.  My field is legal and I was referred to an Attorney with an IP background.  After listening to and reviewing the resume I realized that this Attorney is actually much more than “just” an Attorney.  His business skills are exemplary and are where his strength really lies.  His law degree and IP experience are just the gravy to any company that would be lucky enough to get him.  He can take a company from start up to success. He understands what it takes to make a company competitive.  Just to give you some insight as to what he has done. He was a Senior Executive in a public company and built a $300m division (from 30m) and then went on to lead 3 venture backed technology companies. So here is my challenge to you business experts..is there anyone out there that has the contacts that can help this candidate put his experience to work and help a company grow?

Please feel free to email me and I will be happy to refer both his CV and contact information.

Thanks so much for your help.

With Regards,

Theresa

Hi Theresa,

I understand this guy, I used to work for someone just like him when I was a Marketing Manager at one time. He too was highly successful at growing organizations, was multi talented and had JD as well. If I were you, I would market him to VC funded start ups as EVP-OPS or in larger organizations within NPI function. (I would tap the VC who is funding the operation rather than the operation itself). The startups are more prone to tap executives who are multi talented and can wear many hats while keeping them legally sound. They can't afford to hire department heads of finance, sales, marketing and legal at same time in early phases of operation and would definitely appreciate all of this expertise. I would not bother marketing him in a straightforward function in law firms or in house counsel firms. The multiplicity of his skill set would only confuse them as to how he should be utilized. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Good Saturday Morning Renee...wow thanks for the helpful advice.  Since legal is my game where would I even start to find such things..The VC funded start ups?  Is there a website or organization that I might be able to find a list of companies like this?  Thanks so much for your help I do appreciate it.

If he I.s in good standing, he shouldn't need your help.
I wouldn't stray from your wheelhouse for this.
