Ok,

So maybe I'm the only one, but I've noticed this site is a little stagnant as of late and as such I'm recommending a good old "craziest thing to happen to me recruiting wise" in 2013.  So let's all bring our best, funniest, craziest thing that has happened to us as recruiters.  I know we all have great stories, let's share em....it's laughing time.

My doozy for the day.

I get this guy's resume and "detaile oriented" is misspelled.  Always enjoying a good laugh, I call him.  He tells me that those god damn people in the other department are why he was fired from his last job, so he went to school so he could be like one of them.  I explained that since he has been out of work for over a year and was let go from last job...unlikely I can help him.  He then explains that he has been working for the last year just kept it off his resume, cause he is in trouble over there and doesn't want them to know he is thinking of leaving.  I explained that a) making it seem that he has been out of work for a year, is not going to help him and b) having another job that someone is looking to fire you is also not good.

Finally, I just interupted him and told him I don't think I can help.  Thanked him for his time.

So that is my story of the day.

Eagerly awaiting some more funny stories

"detaile oriented" <-nice one Andrew. As a recruiter it is always important to remain in a position to 'fire' a candidate. Of course we all want to help, make placements, and build relationships, but the most seasoned recruiter knows when it is worth not venturing down that path. Nice work.

Sandra, I was really hoping you would respond to my post.  That is beautiful, I save some of voicemessages I get, I wish there was a way to post them here...5-6 minute long ramblings about what they do, etc.  But that one is good.  Just for giggles, you should call burger king and see if they remember her.  As I mentioned above, sometimes you have to wonder, who in their right mind hired them in the first place.

Sandra, Again!  Awesome.  Andrew- have way too many, but don't feel like writing them for the public to see.  :)

I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was an Obama voter with an Obamaphone.

If i called burger king and asked them if they remember anybody who got fired cause they went to jail or left town without telling anybody, they would probably tell me that would describe half their workforce.  Here they employ a lot of very senior citizens.  There is one lady who is not with us much who works the second window.  The one where you pick up your gut bomb.  Every time i pull up she looks up, smiles and says, "Did you order yet?"  The first time that happened i thought for some reason the order i placed at the order window, paid for at the pay window had been somehow lost so i handed over the receipt.  My little old lady toddled off to ask somebody.  Another gal came back and said, "Your order will be up in a minute. Mae thinks if there is no order sitting here that somebody forgot to order, she does it every time."

At least i know there will be a place for me if i start drooling in my oatmeal.  on second thought i find myself asking more often when somebody calls, "Have you sent us your resume yet?"  Oh crap, i am the third window at Burger King.
