Tips to work with your Employment Agency

It would be a quite rewarding and interesting experience to work with an employment agency. This would help you explore the working conditions in the corporate world. However, there are a few tips that one needs to follow in order to prove his worth and the ability to work in an organization. Following are a few points that would help prove himself better in view of an IT Employment Agency.

  1. The common trend followed by many is to forward ones CV to every possible job portal on the internet. This dilutes the importance of your CV and recruiters would thus lose interest in it. Make sure you select one place where you can upload your CV and leave the rest to the recruiter. If he thinks you are good enough for the job profile, he is looking for, you will surely get a call.
  2. Do not be too open and boast about all that you can do. It is important to mention the major points you are interested in and focus on a job related to that field.
  3. Like you, there may be many more who have themselves registered at the agency. You need to contact the agency through regular emails reminding them that you are still looking out for a job and you are comfortable attending interviews even at a short notice period. These reminders should not be more than once in two weeks.
  4. Select a well recommended recruiter. If you do not get proper recommendations, look out for the history of the recruiter you would be selecting.
  5. Do not keep secrets. The more open you are in speaking the truth, the more can the recruiters help you.
  6. Discussion with the recruiter is important. This will help you speak more about yourself and give them a chance to know you even better.
  7. Make sure your CV speaks only about you. Select a trusted person to review your CV and make sure the information mentioned speaks about the real you.
  8. There are many generalized agencies that do not work in specific trades or skills. Avoid enrolling in such agencies.

As mentioned above, it is very important to select an appropriate IT Employment Agency that would help you find a job that best suits your caliber. The search for a job does not end only on finding the right agent. You need to make sure you act accordingly and share the best information about yourself.

Thanks Karter,

It's been my experience that if an agency thinks they can make money off you and your resume/profile is highly visible (posted in major places)- THEY'LL contact YOU.
