I got an email today that "made my day."

Yeah, I know, it's not all about me, but I really dig it when somebody takes the time to send a nice email, note, thank you card, whatev. It shows there's still a few good souls out there in the world who perceive the value of:

- passing on a kind word
- encouraging a stranger in their endeavors
- appreciating the efforts of others and taking action to tell them.

I got one of those today. Jeremiah Reyes took 2 min's and sent me an email. It made my day. I replied and asked permission to share it with the blogosphere - he graciously agreed.

Jeremiah - thanks for doing what too few of us only think about but never do: make somebody's day.

Let's have coffee sometime, eh?

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

I had the pleasure to read the interview that was shared on Six Degrees and have to say that I was inspired and reenergized.

I know it's a strange thing to say but reading the interview was in some respect affirmation of my choice in career and that I love what I do. I've been recruiting for almost 8 years now and can't think of another job that I would like to be doing. I find that much of my inspiration comes from finding networks such as Six Degrees and reading about professionals such as yourself. I was fortunate enough to attend a webinar with Shally Steckerl and was floored with the amount information he had to share. I love what Six Degrees has brought to me. So much great information and so many kind and generous people.

I love your last note. So much so that I printed it out and taping to my monitor.

1. There is no plan.
2. Think strengths, not weaknesses.
3. It's not about you.
4. Persistence trumps talent.
5. Make excellent mistakes.
6. Leave an imprint.

Thank you!!

Hey, Dennis. I'm in agreeance with you that everyone loves feedback and a little email can go a long way in winning someone's affection but this guy well he just fell all over you. This is not an ordinary case of "passing on a kind word". If he was a girl he'd be asking you to marry him. And if you didn't bite he'd go after Shally or Dave.

Of course, this only goes to prove your point -- but it takes it to another level. Readers, if you want to score big with someone who spends a lot of time writing for the Recruitosphere, lay it on heavy. Write as if this person was one of God's great gifts to the world. Dennis has given you a fantastic model to follow and as you can see, it works. Just don't write too often or the recipient of your affection might think that you are weird.

I'm sitting here laughing, Animal. Seriously, dude.....you should be writing for the Late Night Show...you have "the gift."

And, I know, I've always been a little touchy, feely for you. I guess it really comes out even more after reading books like, "Love is the Killer App."

Hey, in the words of the famous Bud Light commercial, "I love ya, man!"

You've got me wrong Teddy. I'm perfectly in agreeance. Love is a killer. And on another note, I've always called JD a Lovecat. (Me and Tim Sanders, we're like "this").

No kidding. He broke his own rule just to go after me.
