Dr. Charles Handler has an interesting article today over on ERE about social networking. He asks an interesting question (below) and I'm wondering if any of you are using either of the two sites (Climber or jiibe) he mentions and how you're using them.

But what if everyone involved filled out a standardized questionnaire that was designed to measure various aspects of culture?
This would allow users to speak a common language, to be calibrated to one another when they are making their judgments. There are two companies (www.Climber.com, and www.jiibe.com) that are providing the ability for users to complete a culture/work values questionnaire as part of the matching and searching process. Both of these companies are still exploring the possibilities here and I won’t go into detail about either one of their business models or current functionalities. Suffice it to say that they are both on the bleeding edge of using culture profiles to examine fit.

This stuff is finally wearing me out! I don't have the time or desire to follow the links Maureen so I'll just jump in with my assumptions. :)

How much effort is being spent on this whole "cultural fit" hooey? How about YOU fitting in? How about "Sorry kid - you're gonna have to take the nose ring out if you want to work here"?

Where are we going to learn how to be a team player out here if we expect to find places exactly as we would design them? It's all about NEW cultures, NEW attitudes, NEW views isn't it?
LOL
I hear ya' brother and believe me, we're part of the same choir. But what is it they say about progress?
;)
We have ourselves to blame. It started with the "I'm Okay- You're Okay" feel good mantra of the seventies. Remember that?
