Random thoughts, impressions, and unanswered questions from HRevolution…

• Cool people that are willing to put their energy and devotion into scheduling an event like Hrevolution deserve major props: Trish McFarlane, Steve Boese, Ben Eubanks, and Crystal Peterson. Thank you for your time, energy, passion, and hard work!
• There are a lot of very smart, passionate people engaging in great discussions within the HR community. Are we doing a good job of taking that discussion outside the HR community?
• I’m not the only one that’s sick of the term “social media”. It’s become a brand unto itself, and its brand ain’t that good in the corporate world.
• HR folks are using technology tools in ways that many believe will change the course of the profession. Good HR is still a lot of blocking and tackling. Does technology take us from good to great?
• I want to use the word “bifurcate” in a complete sentence before I die.
• Some folks still can’t decide what HR wants to be when it grows up. The term analysis paralysis come to mind. It seems that it should be whatever a particular organization or entity needs it to be in order to be successful.
• Do you have to be a blogger and on Twitter (with thousands of followers) to be relevant in HR? Visibility should not be confused with relevance.
• Maker’s Mark, both the bar and the booze, has a new fan :<)
• Has anyone defined “strategic” HR? I saw someone (?) say recently that saying your “strategic” in HR is like saying your good in bed…if you have to say it, you probably aren’t. I wish I knew who said that, I would follow them on Twitter.

That’s it for now. It’s going to be a warm, sunny day in Cleveland and I’m going to play a very rare round of November golf. Cheers.

I decided to look up the word bifurcate. The definition surprised me. To divide or fork into two branches. At dinner tonight I plan to bifurcate my steak with my fork and a knife.

Wonderful post.

I too liked the bit about being a blogger and having thousands of followers. I take great pride in blocking people who follow me. Not all people, just the one's who don't know who I am, don't appreciate my sense of humor, and are obviously just trolling for followers by following me. I wonder if other people intentionally lower their follow numbers?

I guess I feel like I want people to follow me, who are interested in building relationships. That is why I like recrutingingblogs so much. Everyone who I have communicated with is genuinely friendly and sincere.

I look forward to your next post. And to a new word?
