Job growth drives the business of recruiting the most because new job openings mean more placement opportunities for recruiters, especially in today’s marketplace. But turnover can be good as well because it can create a wealth of new opportunities for recruiters to help clients fill difficult positions. However, turnover can present some challenges too. For instance, the client may decide to eliminate the position or have current employees do double duty. Also, given today’s tumultuous market, the client contact may not have the authority to use an agency even for critical openings. Still, a recruiter can be an invaluable resource if he or she can provide strategic consultative guidance and concrete ideas on how to hire and retain good staff people. That way, the recruiter/client relationship is about not just filling orders or replacing outgoing employees but about forming strategic alliances where both parties can mutual benefit from proactively tackling the ever growing challenges of employee turnover.

For me, both side of the coin (job growth & turnover) has its advantages & disadvantages. The way out as a recruiter willing to drive the business to your profit is to device strategies to benefit from the two sides of the coin. Cheers.
